My faithful buddy was excitedly awaiting my return...

It was the first time James had ever been over to my brothers house. The joys of being cleared onto a military base. Harley's birthday was supposed to be big, until just about every child invited to it got sick. It was literally knocking kids out left and right.
But he seemed ok.
There was a lot of story reading, and playing, and science video watching. Uncle Juice (James) found something Emily liked, videos on his phone. So he popped up Minute Earth on YouTube and she just had way too much fun.
It was a quiet birthday party. The neighbor and her 3 kids came over, as they were just about the only ones not sick. My brother Skyped in from Korea.
Oh yeah, we did balloon animals...

Except for when Paul wanted us to smash Harley's face in the cake.

It didn't work too well. He didn't want to ruin Aunt Annie's hard work. So he just very politely ate my cake. What a trooper.
While my mom and Dave took Malisa out to the store for some things, James and I cleaned the house and kept an eye on the kids. I even tricked Emily into cleaning up her massive bin of blocks and puzzle pieces so Malisa didn't have to do anything when she came home. Achievement unlocked! The power of drawing faces on balloon animals. It was a short visit, but it was lots of fun.
And here are a few more pictures from our long weekend...

Side note, on Monday we played with the new cards my mom got Emily. We played a matching game. I totally won and made my 4 year old niece cry. Hey kid, all is fair in love and cards. She did pretty well, even if we did stack it a little in her favor.
